Walking along to the riverside from Reeth to Marrick Priory, up the Nuns Steps to Marrick and back via Fremington Edge in one of Yorkshire's most beautiful valleys.

Yorkshire, Ripon and Leyburn. Alight at Reeth.
The Route: From the Village Green head down the village towards Reeth Bridge and continue on the footpath for 150 yards . Go through the hand gate on the right sign posted Grinton and along the footpath passing the old water mill on your left through two fields emerging on Grinton Bridge. Do not cross the bridge but cross over the road and follow the riverside path down stream.
Follow this riverside path until the farm road is reached then turn right along the road to Marrick Priory.
Just past the entrance to the Priory bear left to a hand gate in the wall sign posted Marrick go through the gate and up the Nuns steps to Marrick village. At the top of the steps proceed along the lane until the village is reach turn left along the metalled road for about a mile. At the road junction cross over the road and through the stile opposite past the Marrick Millennium plantation.
Continue along the footpath keeping the wall on the left, climbing gradually to join a broad path along the top of Fremington Edge.
After passing some spoil heaps cross a ladder stile by a disused television mast and continue over a wooden stile in a fence.
Go through the gate on the left, follow a green track and begin to descend. After passing the old chert quarries
Go through the gate and down the lane to High Fremington turn right along the village and through four fields to emerge at Reeth Bridge and back into the village
Getting back: Return on the same buses.
