From 20th July until 5th September, North Riding bus services 82, 83 and 84 from York will be extended from Ripon to Fountains Abbey, providing a bus up to every hour during the daytime, Monday to Saturday.
This extension creates convenient direct links from York, Boroughbridge and Ripon, allowing visitors to enjoy a single-journey trip to one of Yorkshire's most spectacular attractions without the need to change buses. Also, from 18th July until 6th September 2026, children and young people (under 18) who arrive at Fountains Abbey by bus will be eligible for £1 entry. Under 5s go in free. Visitors can also take part in the National Trust's Summer of Play programme, featuring games, soft archery, balance bikes, space hopper races and Pokémon-themed activities, alongside the site's abbey ruins, water gardens and adventure playground. Details of all buses to Fountains Abbey, including Summer Sunday and Bank Holiday DalesBus services from Pocklington, York, Ripon, Harrogate, Bradford, Otley, Grassington and Pateley Bridge are available here. At the same time, revised timetables will be introduced on North Riding services 82, 83 and 84 from 20th July to help improve punctuality and reliability.
