A Sunday service will be introduced on service 563 between Kirkby Stephen, Appleby and Penrith from 19th July 2026, with financial support from Westmorland and Furness Council. Click here for timetable details.
This will be the first time for many years that a Sunday service has been provided on this route and follows the success of the Saturday service commissioned a number of years ago by Kirkby Stephen Town Council. The first day of operation will be Sunday 19th July and the service will initially run on Sundays until November. It will also run on August Bank Holiday Monday. Depending on usage it may be extended further, or may be suspended for the Winter and return again at Easter 2027. The service will not serve Kirkby Stephen Rail Station but otherwise will cover all villages on the weekday route and offer improved access to attractions along the route, such as the Eden Valley Railway at Warcop, which regularly operates on a Sunday, when no public transport link is otherwise available. The Monday to Friday and Saturday service will also continue, with just a minor change to the times of the last journey on weekdays from Kirkby Stephen to Penrith. Comments are closed.
