Bus links in Upper Wensleydale will be improved on Summer Sundays from 4th June 2023, with the introduction of new Wensleydale Explorer minibus service 855.
The new Wensleydale Explorer minibus service will restore the Sunday bus link between Garsdale Station and Hawes (creating a daily service), and also provide links between Hawes, Bainbridge, Askrigg, Carperby and Castle Bolton. Castle Bolton is around a mile’s walk from Redmire Station on the Wensleydale Railway. The bus will run every Sunday until 22nd October between Garsdale Station, Hawes and Castle Bolton, as follows: From Hawes Market Place to Garsdale Station at 1010, 1600, 1730 and 1810 From Garsdale Station to Hawes at 1045, 1630, 1755 and 1835 From Hawes Dales Museum to Castle Bolton at 1110 and 1450 From Castle Bolton to Hawes at 1140 and 1530 Wensleydale Explorer bus 855 will be operated by Little White Bus as part of the DalesBus network managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company with financial support from Upper Dales Community Partnership, the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line, Bolton Castle, Friends of the Dales and other local supporters. There’s no need to book, so you can simply turn up and go. Local bus fares are capped at just £2 for each journey all summer as part of a national initiative which includes these Sunday buses. Concessionary bus passes are also valid for free travel on Wensleydale Explorer bus 855.
