SUPPORT NORTHERN DALESBUS 830
Friends of the Dales are fundraising so that
Northern DalesBus 830 can run again in summer 2020.

Northern DalesBus 830 runs on Summer Sundays and Bank Holidays between Teesside, Darlington, Richmond, Upper Swaledale and Hawes.
The bus was the star of a “Slow Travel” BBC4 programme and features in the book Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess
when author Amanda Owen used it to return from hospital in Middlesbrough to Upper Swaledale

Managed by the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company, a subsidiary of Friends of the Dales (the Yorkshire Dales Society), a registered charity,
the bus brings visitors from Teesside and Richmond into the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s stunning landscapes of Upper Swaledale, travelling as far as Muker and Keld before crossing the scenic Buttertubs Pass into Swaledale to Hawes, and then providing access through Upper Wensleydale, calling at Bainbridge,  Askrigg, and Castle Bolton in Herriot Country to Leyburn.  It then returns to Richmond, forming a wonderful circular tour of the two Northern Dales.

The service is also used by local communities as a valued local shopping bus into Richmond and Leyburn, and it provides important weekend low carbon access to the Dales. Walkers can use this bus to do sections of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Path and The Pennine Way. Visitors using the service for weekend and day visits also help the Dales economy by extra spending in local shops, pubs and cafes.

In 2017, we raised over £3,300 to help provide this iconic bus service. This year Friends of the Dales need to raise £6,700 to enable the bus to run again every Sunday and Bank holiday throughout Summer 2020.

Please help support this service with an online donation to Friends of the Dales (Yorkshire Dales Society) via PayPal, using the button below.
If the appeal target is not reached, donations will be used to fund other DalesBus services.
If the appeal target is exceeded, surplus donations will go to support this service next year.
If you prefer to make a donation via Bank Transfer, please email Ann Shadrake, Executive Director, Friends of the Dales for the charity’s bank account details, or you can send a cheque made out to "Friends of the Dales" to Friends of the Dales, Canal Wharf, Eshton Road, Gargrave, BD23 3PN.

We would also welcome sponsorship from local businesses -
