Leeds - Settle - Carlisle Railway 

The world-famous Leeds - Settle - Carlisle railway line travels through some of the most spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Yorkshire Dales Explorer train runs on Saturdays from Rochdale via Manchester Victoria, Bolton, Blackburn and Clitheroe to Settle, Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Ribblehead. Timetable details are available here.

Bus-links from the Leeds - Settle - Carlisle line provide easy access to places in the National Park and neighbouring Forest of Bowland National Landscape.  Single fares on any of these buses are no more than £3: 

• Bus 72 from Skipton to Grassington  (Daily)
• Buses from Skipton Station to Malham  (Daily)
• Bus 11 from Settle to Tosside, Slaidburn, Dunsop Bridge and Clitheroe   (Monday to Saturday) 
• Western Dales Bus S1 from Dent Station to Dent, Sedbergh and Kendal   (Saturdays)
• Garsdale Station Shuttle 113 from Garsdale Station to Hardraw and Hawes   (Monday to Saturday)
• Bus 563 from Kirkby Stephen Station to Kirkby Stephen, Appleby and Penrith   (Monday to Saturday)
• DalesBus 80 from Ribblehead Station, connecting with Yorkshire Dales Explorer train, to Hawes  (Summer Saturdays - this service has now finished for the winter)
• Northern DalesBus 830 from Ribblehead Station to Hawes, Upper Swaledale and Richmond   (Summer Sundays - this service has now finished for the winter).
• Wensleydale Explorer Bus 857 from Garsdale Station to Hawes, Askrigg and Castle Bolton    (Summer Sundays - this service has now finished for the winter)
