Western Dales Area Bus Service Changes - April 2023

Changes will be made to many Western Dales area bus services from April 2023, with improved links between Kirkby Stephen, Appleby and Penrith.

S1 Dent Station - Dent - Sedbergh - Kendal (Saturdays)

• The only change on this route is the addition of the usual early evening return journey to Dent Station, leaving Sedbergh Post Office at 1855, for the summer season from 1st April.

S3 Sedbergh - Hawes (Summer Fridays).

• The S3 Hawes service will run on Fridays this year, starting on 14th April, avoiding early closing day in Hawes.

S4 Sedbergh - Kirkby Stephen - Brough.

• The Friday service will no longer run after 31st March 2023 due to low usage, with alternative buses between Kirkby Stephen and Brough now available on Tuesdays and Thursdays on service S6, and on Saturdays on service 563.  Buses will still run between Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen on services S5 and S6 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  
  

S5 Sedbergh - Kirkby Stephen - Kendal.(Wednesdays)

• From 5th April the S5 service will move from Thursday to Wednesday, Kendal’s market day. 

S6 Sedbergh - Kirkby Stephen - Brough - Penrith (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

• The S6 Tuesday service will be unchanged, but from 4th April it will also run on Thursdays. 

563 Kirkby Stephen - Brough - Appleby - Penrith (Saturdays)

• From 1st April a trial Saturday service will be added to Stagecoach service 563, with buses running between Penrith Station, Penrith, Appleby, Brough, Kirkby Stephen and Kirkby Stephen Station.  The Monday to Friday service between Penrith and Appleby will continue unchanged.
