It is with great sadness we have to report the sudden death after a fatal heart attack, of our wonderful, inspiring, funny, very dear friend and colleague Michael Pascal who we all knew simply as “Muppett”.
It happened whilst he was doing what he loved, singing in an open mike music session at The Fox pub in Shipley on Wednesday night. Muppett was a friend and supporter to so many people and to so many worthwhile causes, in Bradford and well beyond, a poet, singer-songwriter, campaigner, leader of amazing walks, and a passionate user of public transport and supporter of DalesBus. His invariable good humour and generous nature was an example to us all. To all of us in Friends of DalesBus he is truly irreplaceable but we are determined his work will live on. On Saturday 9th March 2024 the Friends of DalesBus will be hosting a public meeting on "Restoring our Bus and Rail services to and within the Yorkshire Dales". The meeting will include a talk by Colin Speakman, Vice Chair of Friends of DalesBus on "a new campaign for public transport to and within the Yorkshire Dales for a green and sustainable future" and a Question & Answer session with members of the committee.
The meeting will be held at The Narrowboat, Skipton starting at 2pm. Doors open at 1.30pm. It will be followed by The Friends of DalesBus AGM. Members and non-members are invited to attend both meetings. The Narrowboat will be open from noon for food and drinks in advance of the meetings. There are of course numerous bus and train services to Skipton. Details of DalesBus Ramblers' free guided walks now available online - click here to download the latest programme (PDF file).
North Yorkshire Council's 'minimalist” approach to public transport has been criticised by Vice-Chairman Colin Speakman in an article in this week's Craven Herald newspaper.
Friends of DalesBus would like to encourage everyone to respond to the North Yorkshire Let's Talk Transport consultation which runs until 17 July 2023 - and let them know what you think. Details of DalesBus Ramblers' free guided walks until the end of June are now available - click here to download the latest programme (PDF file).

The last return bus from Buckden is bus 875 at 1725 to Grassington, Ilkley, Leeds and York. ***UPDATE***This event raised £1,196.92 for the Friends of DalesBus.
